Here is how Payment by Instalments works:

1) Skaters, when registering, can enter their sessions, and when they go to pay they will be given the option to pay in full or pay by instalment. This is set up on a Program by Program basis.

2) If they want to pay by instalments, a payment plan will be shown with 2 or 3 instalments (total divided by number of instalments), scheduled over the time range of the Season.

3) The first payment date of the instalment program is the day the registration takes place - regardless of when the season starts or whether the registration occurs before or after the season start date.

4) When they click "Pay" the instalment program will commence, and they will be emailed a Paypal invoice for their first scheduled payment. It is due on receipt.

5) When the skater pays the invoice, the money goes into the club PayPal account. The system then "waits" until the next instalment is due - this could take weeks or months.

6) The system wakes up periodically and looks for Payments (e.g. 2nd and 3rd instalments) that are due, and sends out new invoices for those.

7) When all payments are complete, the registration is marked paid and the customer gets a "You are fully paid" receipt and child tax credit form.

8) If a customer does not pay their invoice within one week of it being sent they get an automatic friendly NAG email (just once at the one week period).

9) If a customer does not pay their invoice within one week of it being sent they get an automatic not-so-friendly NAG email. This email now occurs every day until the payment is made.

That concludes the workflow for payment by instalments.

Can I have an instalment system that deducts directly from my credit card, rather than sending an invoice?

This is possible but would be setup through PayPal, as opposed to being a CoastRegistry feature. It is called Recurring Payments.

See https://cms.paypal.com/ca/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=developer/e_howto_html_installment_buttons

It requires a Paypal Standard "enhanced" account with PayPal (CoastRegistry only requires PayPal Standard "off the shelf"), and there are extra fees (around $20.00 per month).

Hi there,
We are adding the feature to set the dates of the instalments. It should be ready sometime in Fall 2014. We highly recommend taking the first payment at the time of registration however. Otherwise the skater is skating for free for some period of time, which just doesn't sound right!
